Courage
One foot found the bottom step,
Hidden,
just under the water.
He
paused and looked back again.
Each step took him closer to the top.
He
looked down at the water and swallowed hard.
His
heart beat faster.
It looked a lot higher from here.
Carefully,
he sat down.
One
last thought about backing out.
No. They were all there. Waiting,
Watching
for him.
Daddy
had his arms open wide.
He let go.
